Biochar as a Business

Check out this new online educational opportunity that will help build the in-field workforce we need to scale the production of biochar while reducing emissions from standard open burning.
Regenerative Living – Biochar as a Business

COURSE SUMMARY

You know biochar is an incredible addition to soil. Perhaps you’ve been burning biomass and even making biochar – now the question is – can it work as a business where you offer charring biochar as a service?

The answer is a resounding YES

This course is for practitioners and future practitioners who are ready to move from making biochar to building a sustainable enterprise where biochar is a service business. Over 8 modules and 7 weeks, you’ll learn how to estimate and price jobs, navigate permitting, test and account for carbon, market your services, and close with a complete biochar business plan, reviewed and critiqued live.

The course is led by Kelpie Wilson of Wilson Biochar, a mechanical engineer with 35 years in renewable energy and sustainable forestry who has worked in biochar since 2008 and has trained practitioners across North America.

Field instruction and case studies are led by Eric Mayer of Napachar, whose California vineyard biochar service is the central real-world model for the course.

Javan Bernakevitch of Regenerative Living hosts and facilitates, structuring the course so you leave with an actionable plan, not just information.

This course partner is Biochar On Site, a professional network of biochar practitioners. A portion of course proceeds supports BOS.
